Thanks for these lovely blogs Alys. Last July at The Discarded Image, I published a review of Alys, Always, British journalist Harriet Lane's debut novel. And the setting was Alys Beach, FL. Frances Thorpe is a quiet, unassuming thirty-something, living alone in London with a steady if unambitious job as a sub-editor at small newspaper The Questioner, in Alys, Always, the debut novel from Harriet Lane. On a bitter winter's night, Frances Thorpe comes upon the aftermath of a car crash and, while comforting the dying driver, Alys Kyte, hears her final words. Harriet Lane's debut novel Alys, Always was published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson (an imprint of Orion) in February 2012. One book group let us know what they thought of Alys, Always by Harriet Lane. Whenever your down, just think there is always a nice suprise around the corner; there to make the world a nicer place. I've just finished reading Harriet Lane's debut novel, Alys, Always. The plot trips along at a steady pace which will keep the reader engaged. 'Alys, Always is Harriet Lane's debut novel and the informal style of writing allows the reader to have a sense of being present within the story. Alys and her Thenn has been niggling my mind lately and it's excellent to see all of this laid out in a logical and coherent way, especially when it works so well with the GNC. I hope all is well with you, I admire your positivity.
